Will the Swinger Lifestyle Ruin Your Relationship?

Some people are afraid to start a swinger lifestyle with their partner because they’re afraid it will ruin their relationship. Their worries are certainly understandable and may hold some validity. The truth is that swinging is not for everybody. It takes a certain kind of mindset to accept an open relationship where you and your partner agree to have sex with other people. Even if you set your own terms for the open relationship, it may get a bit weird when you actually start having sex with strangers and other people you don’t have feelings for.

Let’s look at an example of how a swinging lifestyle can ruin your relationship. Suppose you’re a man who is interested in swinging, but your partner is hesitant about it. However, she wants to make you happy and will do almost anything for you. So, she agrees to have threesomes with you and another woman. But, as you’re having these threesomes, she is not enjoying herself and becomes uncomfortable with the whole experience. This could be a circumstance where your partner will change her mind and then possibly want to leave you.

How do you avoid this from happening? The best thing to do is sit down with your partner first and talk with her about what kind of sex life you both want. This needs to be an objective discussion where you both talk candidly about your wants and desires. If the two of you cannot come to an unequivocal agreement about the terms of a possible open relationship, then perhaps the current relationship won’t work out anyway.

Here’s the thing. Sex is a very important part in people’s lives, some more than others. You may love your partner, but that doesn’t mean she can satisfy your sexual demands. If she doesn’t allow you to fulfill those demands with other people, then you may grow to resent her if you both continue your relationship. At that point, the relationship will be ruined because she will know that you’re unsatisfied with her sexually. This is not a relationship that can be salvaged if you both have different sexual desires that cannot be agreed upon.

Therefore, a swinger lifestyle might be the only thing that saves a relationship when both partners are on the same page. At first, your partner might be hesitant to try a swinging relationship because it is unconventional and against the norms of society. But they might just surprise themselves and enjoy the experience after they’ve tried it once. So, ask your partner to give it a try and see what happens. That is the only way you’ll know for sure if it will ruin or boost your relationship.
